Meda Echinacin juice 100 ml
Echinacin MADAUS – juice contains a dried pressed juice from purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) as an active ingredient.
Echinacea purpurea acts as a non-specific immune stimulant.

Echinacin MADAUS – Saft is a herbal medicine for the supportive treatment and prevention of recurring infections in the respiratory tract in adults, adolescents and children over 4 years of age.

Contraindications
Echinacin MADAUS – juice must not be taken,
- if you are allergic to purple coneflower, other plants of the daisy family (e.g. chrysanthemum, arnica) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- Because of its immune-stimulating activity, Echinacin MADAUS – Saft can be used in progressive systemic diseases, autoimmune diseases, immune deficiencies, immunosuppression and diseases of the leukocytes (such as tuberculosis, leukemia or leukemia-like diseases, inflammatory diseases of the connective tissue (collagenosis), multiple sclerosis, AIDS diseases, HIV -Infections, chronic viral diseases) should not be used.
- From children under 1 year.

Interactions with other drugs are not known for Echinacin MADAUS – juice.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
In the absence of sufficient data, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding cannot be recommended.
Echinacin MADAUS – juice contains xylitol
Note for diabetics: 5 ml Echinacin MADAUS – juice contain 800 mg xylitol corresponding to 0.07 bread units (BE).
application
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Posology
The recommended dose for
adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is:
For acute infections:
For shock treatment on the 1st day: initially 5 ml, then up to 5 times at intervals of 1 – 2 hours: 2.5 ml.
From the 2nd day for further treatment: 3 times a day 5 ml.
For prevention (prophylaxis): 5 ml 3 times a day.
Use in children
Children between 6 and 12 years: 5 ml twice a day.
Children between 4 and 5 years: 2.5 ml 3 times a day.
A measuring spoon is included.
Children under the age of 1 year should not take Echinacin MADAUS – juice.
In the absence of sufficient data, use in children aged 1-4 years cannot be recommended.
Method and duration of administration
For oral use.
Echinacin MADAUS – Saft must not be used continuously for more than 8 weeks.

side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Information on the frequency of the occurrence of the side effects mentioned cannot be given.
The following side effects have been observed:
- Anaphylactic shock (allergic reaction, often accompanied by a drop in blood pressure, nausea and possible shortness of breath)
- Hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash, itching, hives, allergic painful swelling of the skin and mucous membranes, especially in the facial area [Quincke’s edema])
- obstructive bronchospasm (shortness of breath due to narrowing of the airways), asthma
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (severe skin disease affecting general well-being, painful blistering of the skin especially in the mouth, eyes and genitals), angioedema of the skin (sudden swelling of the mouth and throat or mucous membranes)
Taking medicines with preparations from purple coneflower is associated with the occurrence of
- linked to immune diseases. These can express themselves through
- Disorders of the nerve pathways (tingling, muscle spasms, paralysis, gait disturbances, bladder dysfunction and visual disturbances),
- painful acute inflammation of the subcutaneous fatty tissue,
- anemia, decrease in the number of red blood platelets,
- Dry mouth, dry eyes, muscle and joint pain.
Such reactions can be triggered in patients with a tendency to allergic reactions (see section 2. Warnings and precautions).
composition
The active ingredient is:
100 g contain 2.34 g of dried pressed juice from fresh flowering purple coneflower (Echinaceae purpureae herba) (ratio of fresh herb: dried pressed juice 31.5-53.6: 1)
The other ingredients are:
potassium sorbate (preservative) 0.20 g; Xanthan Gum, Xylitol 15g, Citric Acid, Orange Flavor, Purified Water.
5 ml Echinacin MADAUS – juice corresponds to 2.5 ml or 2.67 g pressed juice from purple coneflower.
